Dear readers, if I’m being honest with you, I’m procrastinating by writing this article. So hopefully whilst I do this research and write this article, I will not only succeed in helping you avoid procrastination, but I too will stop this deadly streak of avoiding writing.

Starting off, what is procrastination?

Procrastination is when you delay tasks as (the article was delayed from here for the next two weeks because the author procrastinated. ironic.)

Anyway, procrastination is when you delay tasks such as important work (or an article that was due a week ago) to do other activities that are more leisurely. Procrastination gets in the way of many people’s lives. Sadly, many tasks have deadlines. Thus we must find a solution to this horrid habit.

Minimizing distractions

One of the main reasons why you might be procrastinating is probably distractions. Your phone, games, anything you fidget with. Turn off social media for a couple of hours, stay away from anything that you know you will use to get away from a task.

Have someone help you

Sometimes working with others isn’t actually a distraction, but it can motivate you to do more since you have others encouraging (or forcing, whichever works.) you or working alongside you. Just some good peer pressure.

Give yourself a reward after finishing a task

Maybe it's your favorite snack, playing video games, or being lazy. Give yourself time to re-energize for the next wave of potential procrastination.
